Gameweek 2 has arrived and we already have our first blanks of the season! Burnley & Luton both miss Gameweek 2 so don’t transfer in any of their players… not that you were going to.
It’s also worth noting that the Gameweek 2 deadline is on Friday at 18:15 BST. Don’t miss it.
Now let’s get into the Gameweek 2 FPL tips.

Gameweek 1 Talking Points
- Chilwell & Estupiñán were basically deployed as left wingers.
- De Bruyne injured for 3-4 months.
- Gabriel benched for tactical reasons, expected back in GW2.
- Moyes teased that he wants to test Bowen as a forward.
- Wilson & Barnes clinical off the bench.
- Eze had great underlying stats and was unlucky to not score points.
- Maddison was the heart of every Spurs attack.
- Pedro confirmed as penalty taker for Brighton.
- Nicolas Jackson led the line for Chelsea.
- Man United uninspiring in narrow 1-0 victory vs Wolves.
Gameweek 2 Who To Pick
Unless your team has some serious issues, we recommend that you carry your transfer into GW3. This will give you a more flexibility with the transfers and give you a slightly larger – but still tiny – sample range to work with.
However, if you must, you should look at the following:
Ben Chilwell
Chilwell has already increased in price by 0.1m and if you don’t own him you should definitely be worried. He managed 7 points, thanks to 1 assist, and also had a goal disallowed. Most impressively, he was more left-wing than Jeremy Corbyn in GW1. Look at this heat map:

Pervis Estupiñán
Owned by over 50% of the game, Estupińán is player that is dangerous not to own. He opened the season with a 7-pointer like Chilwell and was also deployed basically as a winger. His next two games are Wolves & West Ham.

James Maddison
Maddison marked his league debut for Spurs with 2 assists and a 9-point haul in FPL. He was the heartbeat of all Tottenham attacks and looks like he’ll be influential as Tottenham adjust to life after Kane.
Following his GW2 fixture against Man United, he then faces Bournemouth, Burnley & Sheffield United. During this time you’d expect his ownership and price to increase from 7.5m.
You have permission to be interested in Spurs assets – specifically Maddison.

Tottenham registered 358 touches in the attacking third in GW1, more than they managed in any game last season.

João Pedro
The 5.5m valued forward marked his league debut for Brighton with a goal and FPL managers have begun flocking to the Brazilian ahead of their promising next two fixtures.
After scoring from the penalty spot in Gameweek 1, it’s expected that he’ll resume those duties for the season. A 5.5m striker on penalties for an attacking side with good fixtures. You do the math!
Gameweek 2 Who To Captain
![gameweek 2 captain tips](https://fpltips.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/salahgw2-1024x576.jpeg)
Erling Haaland vs Newcastle (H)
Mohamed Salah vs Bournemouth (H)
The verdict on who to captain in Gameweek 2 is if you own Salah captain him, if you don’t, captain Haaland.
If some reason you don’t have either, you cannot be helped.
Haaland has the tougher fixture hosting a defensive solid Newcastle, but he’s the definition of fixture proof and you’d expect him to score against any team.
Meanwhile, Salah faces up against a high-pressing, not so defensively solid Bournemouth. He has managed 8 goals in his previous 6 games against the Cherries.
